An independent professional organisation founded in Great Britain in 1868. Set up in France in 1993, firstly in the form of an Association under the French Law of 1901, it has taken the legal form of a limited liability company since 2010. The member status of the RICS, synonymous with professional ethics and values, is a guarantee provided to professionals and the general public. The RICS has been committed to the establishment and compliance of the strictest standards in terms of excellence and integrity.

Within the increasingly complex world of international finance, valuation has established itself as a key component which requires a reliable and universal methodology of risk management.

RICS certification requires its members to fulfil a certain number of obligations, notably regarding continuing training or standards compliance (Red Book for property valuations) or good professional practices.

The RICS-certified international register of valuers aims to strictly ensure the professional practices of its members.
